In two days the beginning of August will be upon us and then the countdown for school starts. As it approaches I like to start readying myself for lunches. Ever since kindergarten (when my son first started having lunch at school) when he takes his lunch, I always pack a little note along with a small treat. They have since evolved into small “lunchbox notes” which are basically very small cards that I make from scratch. Throughout August, once a week, I will include one video a week that are specifically lunch box notes. By the time school rolls around you should have a few ideas to get you through the year!!
Here’s the first video!
Starting with white card stock I cut pieces that measured 2.5″ x 5″. After scoring and folding the card in the middle they should measure 2.5″ x 2.5″. I used two Two Paper Divas stamp sets today, Cool Treats and Here’s the Scoop.
On the first card I stamped the sentiment “Here’s the Scoop…”, masked it off with a .75″ piece of painter’s tape and then stamped the ice cream cone from the “Cool Treats” stamp set. On my second card I simply stamped the push pop tilted slightly to the right but directly in the center of the card. I also stamped the sentiment “You’re so Cool!” on the inside of both cards. I kept the sentiment towards the top so I could write a message down at the bottom. I did all of my stamping with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.
My one recommendation for these types of card is to use whatever coloring medium you are most comfortable and the fastest with. I decided to use my alcohol markers to color in my images, but I kept it very simple using only one to two colors. I wasn’t worried about bleed through, since I always tape a little treat on the inside of the card. Now you could always dress up these cards with some Wink of Stella, Glossy Accents, of sequins, but as usual I kept mine very clean and simple.
I hope you found this video helpful and you too will make a few lunchbox notes for your child, grandchild, neice, nephew, etc. It doesn’t take a lot to make their day and it always puts a smile on my little guy’s face when I include a lunchbox note! And make sure to come back next week for more ideas!
