Argyle Stamping

A few weeks ago I did some plaid stamping, which put me in the mood for pattern stamping. I wanted to see what other type of patterns I could easily replicate and with Christmas coming and seeing all the holiday sweaters, my search led me straight to argyle. Using the “Diamonds” stamp set from Inspired by Stamping I created a fun argyle pattern, but I also took it one step further and adding foiling for some gorgeous shine! You can watch the video below if you want to see exactly how I made my card for today!

Starting with the solid diamond in the “Diamonds” stamp set and two different colors of dye ink, I created a repeating pattern on a 4.24″ x  5.5″ white card stock panel. I used two different colors of dye ink, a grayish blue and dusty pink. Alternating the two colors and then making sure to start the next row with the opposite color gave me an almost checkerboard appearance, but with diamonds. Then, using the dashed line diamond I stamped in between the stamps, this time with Versamark ink. I then used clear embossing powder and heat set the entire panel. (Make sure to watch the video above for the full tutorial and more tips!)

With my clear embossing powder heat set, I ran the panel through my laminator with Ranger’s foil in cream. This foil will not stick to toner, you must use either an embossing powder or a heat and stick “glue” powder. When I pulled my panel out, I first let it cool, and then removed the foil to reveal a beautiful argyle pattern with a bit of shine from the foil.

To put this card together I used the “Sending You” sentiment set to stamp Sending A Note of Thanks in Versamark ink and heat emboss with white embossing powder on a strip of vellum that I had die cut stitch lines into. I then mounted a piece of amber rose glitter card stock at an angle on the foiled panel and then attached the vellum sentiment panel over top of the glitter paper, making sure to attach the vellum behind the panel with double sided adhesive. Finally I mounted the entire panel onto an A2 white top folding card base.

This stamp set is a great set to have on hand. This is one of only MANY patterns you could come up with and the color combos are literally limitless. I have a feeling I will be using this set again many times for many different occasions, possibly one VERY soon!!
