Every month on the Joy Clair Stamps Design Team, myself, along with the other design team members, will be focusing on a certain technique. If you haven’t guessed yet, this month’s technique is embossing. Whether you use heat or dry, embossing is a fantastic way to add interest and subtle dimension to your card. You can also combine embossing with so many other techniques for fun and unique results! Today I will be focusing on using heat embossing and watercolor for a fun resist technique! Make sure to watch the video below for the full tutorial on today’s card!
ENJOY!!
For the full written tutorial please head on over to the Joy Clair Blog!!
The stamp set I used for this card is the newly released “Candy Hearts” from Joy Clair Stamps. This is a fabulous and fun set to use for any Valentine’s Project you might have going on! I can definitely see this as an excellent set to use for classroom Valentines! As you can see from the photo I used the emboss resist technique to not only allow for the center sentiments in the Candy Hearts to really shine through, but also as a well to hold my watercolor inside the lines of the stamps. This allows for the watercolor process to be sped up immensely!!
I used Versafine Onyx Black Ink and Clear Embossing for my heat embossing on this card, but you could switch these for Versamark Ink and Black Embossing Powder for the same look. Also, I used my mini Distress Inks for all the watercoloring done on this card, but any watercolor you choose will work the same way with this technique.
Not only did I use the brand new “Candy Hearts” stamp set from Joy Clair Stamps, but I also pulled in the “i love you” sentiment from the newly released “Dino Love” stamp set as well! I absolutely love combining stamp sets to create new and fresh looks for my cards! It’s a great and simple way to stretch your stamp supply!
