Interactive cards, especially shaker cards, are very popular. Today, I wanted to make a shaker but with a completely see through aspect. This way the recipient of the card is doubly impressed when they open the card and can see straight through the front to the sentiment inside! Make sure to watch the video below to see not only how to create the see through shaker, but also ALOT of dimension!!
ENJOY!!
The first thing I had to do to get this card going was do some fussy cutting. After printing off two of the Winter Birdhouse Digital Stamps from Craftin’ Desert Divas onto white card stock I fussy cut the snow mounds and the bird from one of the printed images. Next, I applied some Whipped Spackle and Distress Glitter in Clear Rock Candy to both snow mounds and set those aside to dry while I moved onto coloring. The coloring on my digital stamped images was all done with alcohol markers. I also colored the fussy cut bird, then, I used my Micron Pen to go back over all the lines to really bring them back to life.
With my coloring done I moved onto making the shaker. I made an A2 side folding hot pink card base and die cut the uncut digital stamp with the largest scalloped rectangle from the Fancy Frames die set. Then, I laid my rectangle onto the card base where I wanted it to end up and die cut a circle die from the hole in the bird house. Before I could put the shaker together I put a white card stock panel inside the card base with double sided adhesive and through the hole in the front I stamped a “thanks” sentiment from the “Simply Said” stamp set. (Any of the sentiments in this set would’ve worked perfectly!!)
Make sure to watch the video tutorial above to see how to put the shaker together and learn from one of my mistakes! After the shaker was fully assembled the only thing left to do was put on my fussy cut pieces. I first put on the snow mounds that I had covered with whipped spackle and glitter. I used double sided adhesive to adhere them down, but in retrospect, a liquid glue would’ve been a better choice! Finally, I adhered my fussy cut bird over the bird on the panel using double sided adhesive and fun foam to finish off this card!
There is obviously quite a lot going on with this card. From all the dimension to the see through shaker, this probably isn’t a card you would want to make multiples of. But, sometimes it’s fun to really put a lot into a card and add all the extra bits and pieces and this card most definitely has a whole lot of extra bits and pieces!
