Building a Background with Joy Clair Stamps Aztec Background Builder Stamp Set

I am so excited to be over on the Joy Clair Stamps Blog today, sharing how I created this fun card and made my own custom background using the brand new Aztec Background Builder Stamp Set. These types of sets are one of my most favorite because they are so versatile and you can continue to use it and reuse it without ever repeating the same colors and patterns. Change up the sentiment and color scheme and you can customize this set to fit any occasion or recipient that you may need a card for. You can watch the video tutorial below to see exactly how I chose to use the Aztec Background Builder to create this CAS card design!

If you want the full written tutorial on this card you can head on over to the Joy Clair Stamps Blog where I give a full explanation and run through on how to build this background and put the entire card together!

Finished Card 3

Like I said above, the color and pattern options are literally endless with this stamp set, so I would really encourage you to play around with it and just have fun! I chose to do a repeating pattern with three colors. Each color I assigned to a certain stamp and started stamping my pattern. Blue was first, then pink, gray, pink again, but I flipped the stamp so the arrows were facing up and finally the blue, again flipping the stamp. Then, I just repeated that same pattern again until the panel was filled. One suggestion I would give is to make sure to make sure and finish the pattern on the end of the panel. At a certain point, like you see in mine above, the ending stamp will be hanging off the edge and quite possibly a lot of the actual stamp won’t end up on the paper. You might be tempted to skip it, but sure to finish it off completely or your panel will look lopsided and unfinished.

Finished Card 2

I wanted to keep the focus entirely on the background I had created so to finish this card off I simply stamped a sentiment from the “Prayer Warrior” stamp set, also new this month, onto a hot pink rectangle and heat embossed in white. I popped up both panels with fun foam and double sided adhesive. Finally, I adhered a few silver sequins to tie into the gray ink. I used Glossy Accents to secure them into place, but any liquid adhesive will do!

I can not wait until I get to play with this set some more! I have so many great ideas and techniques I want to try with it, I just need more hours added into my day! If you haven’t already I would really encourage you to head over the Joy Clair Stamps Blog and see what the rest of the Design Team has created with this set just to get a glimpse of all the possibilities and also the rest of the awesome new release.
