Here’s a peek at the Inspiration Photo and be sure to watch the video tutorial below to see how I used the inspiration photo to inspire me to create a Bible Marker/ Bookmark!!

To begin with I die cut a piece of watercolor paper with a stitched rectangle die to be my panel I would stamp on. Using my MISTI and Versafine Onyx Black Ink I stamped the Warrior image from the Prayer Warrior stamp set on the left hand side of the rectangle. I did double stamp the image and then sprinkled on some clear embossing powder so I could heat set the image. Finally, I used a combination of Distress Inks and Markers to color in my heat embossed image and used water and a watercolor brush to blend in the color.

Finished Project 5

After making sure my watercolor was completely dry I applied a mask over the now colored in image and applied a bit of Hickory Smoke ink with my Mini Ink Blending Tool. Finally, with the mask still in place, I used a bit of my left over watercolors to splatter on some color and also some clean water spots around the image. After drying the splatters I brought back out my MISTI and Versafine Onyx Black Ink pad to stamp the “Prayer Warrior” in a vertical fashion on the bottom right hand side of the rectangle die cut. Finally, I sprinkled on a bit of clear embossing powder and heat set the sentiment.

Finished Project 1

Because I used Distress Inks to not only add watercolor but also a bit of color around my image and I will be using this as a Bible Marker I really do not want the color to transfer to any of the pages. To remedy this I decided to laminate the marker, but I wanted a fun shape to it. So after laminating I used a larger scalloped rectangle to die cut the lamination so it was a nice fun shape that fit perfectly around the actual marker. Laminating this type of project and also any bookmarks you may make is always something I would suggest doing so you don’t accidentally ruin any of the pages you might be marking. Also, if you want to laminate any tags that you attach to a gift the recipient can always reuse them then! To finish off the Bible Marker I punch a hole in the top center and threaded through a few ribbons.

Finished Project 4

I hope you all enjoyed this project and video tutorial today and if a Bible Marker isn’t your thing, this same tutorial can be used for a Bookmark as well. These Bible Markers make great little additions to gifts as well! If you haven’t yet, be sure to head over to the Joy Clair Blog and check out the challenge so you can enter a card of your own. You have until the end of the month to link up and be eligible for the prize.
