Interactive cards are so much fun to make. I think of them kind of like puzzles in putting all the pieces together to create a fun card that always surprises and impresses the recipient! Shaker cards are pretty simple to put together, but today I wanted to take it a step further and create an open ended shaker. Be sure to watch the video tutorial below to see how I created this fun interactive card and a few tips and tricks along the way!
ENJOY!!

I used quite a few of Craftin Desert Divas’ die sets to make this card. I love that the stitching on all of the dies matches perfectly, so no need to worry about matching stitch lines! Because this card had so many steps involved and quite a lot of die cutting, I did all of my steps in a line style. First, I did all of the die cutting and because I knew my spackle had to dry, I added that to the vellum panel before I moved onto any of the other steps. After quickly coloring up the “You Mermaid” digi with alcohol markers I used my Micron pen to darken up the printed lines and sentiment. Finally, I added a bit of Distress Ink with my Mini Ink Blending Tool to create some depth and interest to my scene.
To choose my colors for this card, I made sure to pick out the sequin mix I wanted to use beforehand. This allowed me to color coordinate the colors throughout my entire card, plus, I am horrible at choosing color combos so this is always a little trick I use to make it easier on myself. After putting the entire card front together, I knew I wanted it to be the entire card front and not have any larger layers so I cut a card base with the same die I used to cut the panel and frame. Then, I very easily adhered the panel on top of the shaped card base to complete my card!
I couldn’t be happier with the way this card turned out and it was a blast to put together!
