Today on the New Release Event, Craftin Desert Divas is highlighting and focusing on the brand new Happy Trails Stamp Set and I can’t get enough of it! There are so many great images in this set and they are all absolutely adorable. For my card today I chose to use the little alligator from the set and do a bit of partial fussy cutting to create my scene. You can watch the video tutorial below for all of the details!!
ENJOY!!
Starting with an A2 sized white card stock panel, my MISTI, and the little alligator from the Happy Trails Stamp set, I stamped the car in the bottom quarter of the panel pretty center. I used Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, so I could come back in and color with my alcohol markers. Using my paper trimmer I made a cut line about 1″ from the bottom of the panel and made sure to stop before I cut into my stamped image. I made two cuts lines on both the left and right side of the stamped image and then using my scissors I fussy cut around the top of the stamped image to release the top of the panel and leave only an inch strip and the stamped image.
Using my alcohol markers I quickly colored in my stamped image, choosing darker earth tones to match the building die cuts I would be using. I did put these die cuts together in the “New Release Highlight” video for Craftin Desert Divas, so be sure to go check that out to see how these dies are assembled! After coloring in my image, I masked it off and colored the remaining cardstock strip black with Black Soot Distress Ink. I also used Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink to color the front of an A2 side folding card base, using the Ink Lifting Technique to create a splatter effect on the background.
For the sentiment I stamped the See You Later Alligator sentiment from the set on the bottom right hand side of the strip using Versamark Ink and heat embossing in white. Finally, it was time to put this card together. I first adhered the alligator and road strip to the bottom of the card base with double sided adhesive and fun foam. Behind that I tucked in the four buildings I had created in the New Release Highlight Video, using double sided adhesive to secure them into place, and finish off the card!
This partial fussy cutting technique was such an easy technique to use to really help simplify this card and allow me to create a more unified scene on the card front. It is an awesome technique that could be used for many scene making possibilities, including all of the stamps from the set I used today! I so hope you all found it help and enjoyed the video tutorial above!
