Hello everyone!! Today, I am not only on my own blog, but I am also over on the Joy Clair Stamps Blog as well. Over there is where I will be sharing the write up for this card, so be sure to head over there and check that out!! However, you can find my video tutorial down below! As usual, every month the Joy Clair DT is given one technique to highlight in our own individual ways. This month, it was layering. Because I am a CAS card maker I wanted to share different ways to layer inks and stamps to create added dimension and depth to your cards, without adding extra bulk. So make sure to watch the video tutorial for all the details!!
ENJOY!!
Like I said above be sure to either watch the video tutorial above, or, if you want to read the write up and all the details you can head over to the Joy Clair Stamps Blog.
Layering is a great way to add alot of interest to your cards, but remember, you don’t just have to layer papers to add that interest. There is also layering stamped images, die cuts, inks, embellishments, etc, which are great ways to add that interest without adding a ton of extra bulk. Being a CAS cardmaker, I really don’t like to add a lot of extra bulk to my cards and to be honest I am not good at coordinating alot of different patterned or colored papers.
Whenever I know I am going to layer a few different papers, like I did on this card, I make sure to only add dimension on one layer. This really allows me to keep the bulk down and makes for easier mailing, The rest of the layers I try and connect directly to each other. Also, on this card I layered the sentiment directly on the stamped images to keep bulk down and added distress ink around the flowers for more dimension. The glitter spray on the flowers and also the glitter embossing powder add even more texture and interest to this simple card.
Adding layers to your card does not have to add bulk and make mailing even more difficult. Just by layering inks, embossing powders, die cuts, etc. you get great interest and depth on your card without a ton of dimension.
I hope you all enjoyed the video tutorial today and picked up a few tips and tricks to help you layer on your own cards! I love your tulip card, very effective with the way the flowers heads hang off the card. I thought you had coloured the flowers just using ink until I watched your YouTube video. Everything was explained so clear!y, thanks!
