If you are not signed up for the Inspired by Stamping Newsletter, I would HIGHLY suggest doing so. Every other Saturday, in your inbox, you will receive some awesome information from Inspired by Stamping (this past Saturday there was a 20% off coupon too!), video tutorials, inspirational pictures, and so much more! But one very appealing aspect of the Newsletter is there are FREE PRINTABLE CARD FRONTS!!!! And you don’t just get the latest card front, but links to the past freebies as well!!! The card front I’m using today is one of those!! Be sure and watch the video tutorial below to see how I took this free printable and with just a few simple tweeks added more dimension and interest!!
My favorite flowers are sunflowers, so when I seen this card front I was sooo excited to start coloring! After printing two of the card fronts with my laser printer, I started my coloring with alcohol markers. I used the traditional yellows, but reds, oranges, and browns or a mix of all three would be gorgeous too!! I also used some purples and teals for the little butterfly on the right hand corner. On the first printable I colored in the leaves and butterfly and also used the mid tone yellow for the outer most of the flowers. On the second I colored in the flower adding all the depth here with darker and deeper markers layered with lighter tones as well. For the center of this flower I added lots of dotting with my markers for more texture as well!
With my images colored it was time to start fussy cutting. On the printable with only the flower colored, I fussy cut the sunflower and then ran a black marker around the cut edges. On the second panel, I used my craft knife to just cut along the outer edge of the butterflies wing. You could also use your craft knife to cut along just the leaves or outer edges of the leaves for even more dimension!! Using quite a bit of fun foam and double sided adhesive, I mounted the fussy cut sunflower over the panel that was still together and also tucked a piece of fun foam behind the wings of the butterfly to give them some lift. I mounted the entire panel onto a black card stock mat!
To finish off this card, I mounted the entire panel onto an A2 side folding white card base. I also added some Enamel Accents in Black Tie to the center of the flower for a little shine, dimension, and fun!!
