Emboss Resist In Bible Journaling

Hello Everyone!!  Last week, the entire Joy Clair Stamps DT had an inspirational blog hop, sharing a ton of ideas on how to use the MANY new sets that were just introduced into the Joy Clair Shop. Today, I get to continue sharing fun ideas with you, using the new Noah’s Ark Stamp Set from the Color By Faith Series. I also wanted to share with you, the emboss resist technique, but using it in Bible Journaling. So be sure and watch the full video tutorial below to see all the details on how I put this two page spread together!

ENJOY!

One of the main reasons I wanted to use this technique for this particular layout was because my scene went so wide, I didn’t want to lose any of the words in my Bible. So I started by stamping scenes, using the Noah’s Ark Stamp Set, in Versamark Ink which is a clear sticky ink and then heat embossed in clear embossing powder. To heat emboss in my Bible, I simply position a piece of paper behind my Bible, sprinkle on the embossing powder, and then tap any extra powder onto the extra sheet of paper so I can then funnel it back into it’s container. It really is very simple!

After heat embossing the two scenes, I moved onto Distress Ink Blending. On the left side I used Salty Ocean for the sky and Crushed Olive for the grassy area. I also used my Mini Ink Blending tool and hand cut a scrap piece of paper to create a hill mask. While ink blending over the heat embossing, the slick surface will resist the ink and keep the images and paper underneath white, which allows me to have a large scene in my Bible, but keep all of the wording! On the right side I used Salty Ocean again for the sky, and Peacock Feather for the ocean.

To add more depth and color to some of my stamped pieces, I used my colored pencils, which don’t disturb the Distress Inks. One tip I would like to give is that when ink blending on your Bible pages, you can’t be as rough as you are on regular card stock. You do need to use patting motions instead of swirling motions. Be sure and watch the full video tutorial above for all the details, tips and tricks!
