It is the first day of SEPTEMBER (I can’t believe we are already this far into the year!), but that means that is the start to a brand new Joy Clair Stamps Challenge!! And with the beginning of a new challenge comes more chances to win some awesome prizes!!! If you aren’t familiar with the challenge from Joy Clair Stamps, be sure and jump overe to the Joy Clair Stamps Blog for all the details and the inlinkz where you can place your card/entry!! This month there is a gorgeous new inspiration photo, which I’ve put below, and also there is the theme/challenge of creating either a one layer card or a card with added texture.
I had such a fun time with this inspiration photo and absolutely love the color combo that I got to play around with! For my card I went with a one layer design, but I did use watercolor so I had to add my panel onto a card base. Be sure and watch the full video tutorial below to see exactly how I pulled this card together!
Here are a few close up photos of my finished card for the September Challenge. For my stamp set I chose the “Be Brave” Stamp Set which is part of the Color by Faith Series. This stamp set is HUGE and I love it!! There are so many wonderful large images and sentiments, and also small ones, in this set that you have soo many options and things you can do with this set!! For my card today, I am using the large feather and stamped and masked it on the right hand side of a watercolor panel.
After preparing/masking my stamped images for watercolor, I started creating my watercolor background. I pulled out three Distress Ink colors that I thought went with the inspiration photo, Peacock Feathers, Spiced Marmalade, and Walnut Stain. Be sure and watch the video tutorial above for all the details on how I created the background and more tips and tricks on masking for watercolor! Finally, I finished the panel off with a splattering of Perfect pearls mixed with water for even more texture.
Finally, I stamped on my sentiment in the top right hand corner. I did a bit of a two tone sentiment by using a brown dye ink and then heat embossed about half of the large bottom word with gold embossing powder! To finish, I attached the panel to an A2 sized card base and called this card complete!!
If you haven’t already, you shoud head on over to the Joy Clair Stamps Blog and check out the challenge! It is so easy to play along, and there are some awesome prizes to be won!!
