Today is the first day of sneak peeking full cards using the brand new goodies from Craftin Desert Divas this month. The focal points of today are the brand new Yeti Fun Stamp Set and Scenery Dies. I have two cards to share with you today, one using the new yetis and the other using the new die set. For the video tutorial on the Yeti card, just look below and you can find all the details. However, for the Scenery Dies, you can find all the details for this amazing new die set over on the Craftin Desert Divas YouTube Channel where you will also find the full run down on how I created this card!
For my card using the new Yeti Fun Stamp Set, I started off with stamping, fussy cutting and coloring. You can watch all of my coloring for this release over on my Instagram. You can find that link in the top right hand corner on your desktop, or you can scroll down and find it at the bottom of this page! I also did quite a bit of die cutting for this card. Here’s a run down of all the CDD die sets I used to create this scene – Inside Scalloped Rectangle Dies, Scenery Dies, Stitched Scallop Dies, Flag Banner Dies & Sending Die. I also used last month’s newly released Snowflake Flurries Stencil, this is one of my FAVORITES for making winter scenes and if you haven’t picked it up, I would really suggest doing so. I’ve already used it more times than I can count!
This scene was pretty simple to put together, but there are a lot of components that I did put together a bit differently, so be sure to watch the full video tutorial for all the details. I also did something a bit different for my Sending die cut, I used felt for the backing to add some different texture to my card and really help it stand out! And of course, CDD dies cut perfectly through all of your felt!!
Moving onto my second card for the day, this card was 99.99% die cutting. I LOVE a good die cut scene to be the shining star on my cards and this die cut is absolutely perfect to create an entire card front with! I went with a more summer theme because I really wanted to add the apples, however, you can use this die set year round! For Spring, you can add in a few pink flowers, summer is what I went with for my card, for Fall you can cut leaves from different colors and add some falling to the ground, and Winter is super simple with no leaves, but add a bit of snow sitting on top of the branches with a snow marker or a white gel pen! The tall mountains are the perfect backdrop for this tree and can easily be used on their own for all of your scene making!
This new die set also has the signature CDD stitching on all of the components, so you can mix and match with all of your other Craftin Desert Divas die sets to create some truly amazing cards! I added in die cuts from the Outdoor Landscape 2 Dies, Fall Border Dies, & Scene Builder Dies to complete my scene. I also used the Fancy Frame Die Sets, one of my all time favorites, to frame my scene and also the Flag Banner Dies to hold my sentiment from the Simply Said Stamp Set.
One quick tip, if you enjoy creating die cut scenes as much as I do, I would HIGHLY recommend this tool,The Quickstik Tool, newly added into the Craftin Desert Divas shop as well. This, along with a good liquid glue, is essential to making putting all those tiny die cuts, in this case a ton of leaves, into place without making myself crazy and getting glue everywhere! And if you are low on space like me and you need a tool for multi uses in order to justify the space it takes up, this tool is also amazing for lifting the backing off of tape adhesive, placing sequins, placing pieces in die cut inlay, popping out die cuts from their dies and leftover pieces in die cuts, scraping up glue that squeezes out from under die cuts, prying up already placed items with double sided adhesive, ETC. ETC. ETC. So if you haven’t yet, I would really suggest picking up one of the QuickStik tools from the shop, especially if you love creating scenes as much as I do. This little tool really changes the game and makes it so much easier!!
