Last week was Craftin Desert Divas’ New Release Week and there were some amazing products that were introduced into the CDD Shop. One of my favorite products released was the Hearts Galore Stencil and on both cards today, I used that stencil. I also used the adorable new Hugs & Kisses Stamp Set on both of my cards today. This set is full of the cutest little cupid trolls that are perfect for all of your Valentine’s and Love Cards!! I also have a video tutorial for you, sharing how I used different colors of Distress Inks through my stencil for a multi color background!! You can watch that below!!
This first card, I posted during release week, but I did give the video tutorial, so be sure and watch that above! For the coloring of the images I used on this first card today, be sure and head over to my Instagram account to watch!
For the background on this card, I used several different colors of Distress Inks. One of my all time favorite tips for choosing colors, if you have trouble coordinating a ton of colors like I do, is to look at your sequin mixes and choose colors from there. I went with very bright colors on this background and the best method I found for distributing these colors over the stencil precisely was to use make up sponges. Be sure to watch the video above to see the tips and tricks I learned along the way!
Moving onto the second card, which I haven’t share. For this card I wanted to create a see through shaker card using the new Nested Hearts Dies. I don’t have a video tutorial for this, but it’s pretty simple.
Again, for this background I used the Hearts Galore Stencil as well. I wanted a rich black and white background, so instead of Distress Inks, which create a softer blended look, I used black dye ink. If you have trouble getting dye inks off of your stencil, try an alcohol wipe or hairspray!
I chose to use this little adorable cupid troll from the Hugs & Kisses Stamp Set and colored him in with my alcohol markers. I chose the colors for this card using the sequin mix, which is also brand new this month, that I knew I would be putting into this see through shaker front.
On the front of this card, I attached the Sending Die cut, which I cut from black card stock, to the front of the card front. I really couldn’t find a good place to finish off my sentiment on the outside of the card, so I decided to stamp the rest on the inside. I used the Sending Sentiments Stamp Set, to finish the sentiment on the inside of the card by stamping “love” in the same black dye ink I used on the front of the for stamping and stenciling.
I hope you all enjoyed a look at both of these cards and a few of the new goodies that were just introduced into the CDD Shop. You can shop the entire New Release HERE, or you will find the exact CDD products I used on both cards down below! Thanks so much for stopping by and happy crafting!!
