Tone on Tone Snowy Background

Hello Everyone!! Today I wanted to share with you a subtle tone on tone snowfall background. Today, I will be using the Craftin Desert Divas Snow Flurries stencil to create my background, but this technique can be used with ANY of the fabulous new stencils Craftin Desert Divas offers!! You can watch the full video tutorial below to see this technique in action!

Be sure and watch the video tutorial above for all the details on how I put this card together, but I will fill you on a few of the details of create a tone on tone snow fall background. First, I used the Snow Flurries Stencil on a black card stock die cut. I used the largest plain rectangle from the Fancy Frame die set to make my die cut. Then, with my Versamark Ink pad I smooshed the clear sticky ink through the stencil.

Finished Card 3I wanted to use black embossing powder and I know that sometimes it can be a hassle. Here are a few tips to help control the mess – use an antistatic tool or a used dryer sheet, have a paint brush on hand to easily dust away stray powders, make sure your hands are clean and dry (you can use tweezers to handle your paper), work over a coffee filter, and only sprinkle on the amount of powder you need. I did also make sure my heat tool was nice and hot before I brought it to the paper so it would decrease the amount of warping.

Finished Card 4The rest of the card was pretty simple to put together, and you can watch all of that in the video tutorial. I do want to share a few other options for creating a tone on tone snow fall background with other color options, just in case black isn’t your thing. Of course you can use white EP with white card stock, but you can also use clear EP on vellum, gold EP on a gold card stock, silver on silver, etc. Also, if you don’t have a shiny gold paper like I showed in the video you can use a close color like I did with a burnt orange card stock and copper EP. Also any color embossing powder on the same color card stock is gorgeous, but you can also use a shimmer/glitter embossing powder to really give the background a gorgeous finish!

Finished Card 2

I absolutely LOVE this graphic card and the tone of tone snow fall background was the PERFECT addition to this little scene! If you are interested in any of the CDD products I used on my card today, you will find them all linked below!! Happy Crafting Everyone!!
