Making a Card with a Stamp Set under $6

As stampers and cardmakers and paper crafters we all start somewhere. Can you remember the very first time you searched through an online store, created a wishlist and then fell over when you looked at the total of said wishlist? I do! This wonderful hobby of ours that we love so much is EXPENSIVE!! Yes we can talk about reusing packaging, how to save a few dollars here and there, using coupons, etc, etc, but it still doesn’t even put a dent in the enormous amount we can spend on this hobby. Thinking back to the searching through those online stores as a new stamper (and  honestly still to this day), a lot of times I looked at those cheaper, smaller, but still high quality stamp sets and would really gravitate towards them to get the most bang for my buck. So I wanted to share with you a new series, where I use these smaller sets and create an entire card with JUST THAT SET -No specialty dies, no specialty products that can’t be subbed out for another, just a project that anyone can recreate! Below you can watch the first video using a $5 PTI (Papertrey Ink) Stamp Set!

For my card today, I am using a set from Papertrey Ink, which retails for $5. I am also using the match die set, that retails for $3, but the die set isn’t necessary, you can either fussy cut or stamp directly onto the cardstock panel. Papertrey Ink has quite a few mini sets like that and I do have quite a few, so be prepared to be seeing lots of their sets in this series!

When using a smaller set and making CAS cards in general, if you want to add more interest, an easy way to do so, is to add dimension. Just popping up certain portions of a simple card can add so much to the final product. Also, using embellishments, in this case splatters, it can really dress up your card! Sequins, Enamel Accents or Nuvo Drops, even a bit of baker’s twine can add interest and that final touch!

Another way to really add the finishing touch to any kind of card is to decorate and finish the inside of the card. For this card, I finished off the sentiment and stamped a few extra leaves around the sentiment – it was that simple!

I hope you look at this video and can see that you can create a great card with a very simple set! So whether you are new to stamping or a seasoned crafter, you can look at those mini stamp sets and see a dozen different card ideas! I have left a supply list down below if you’re wanting more insight as to what products I used on my card today! Thanks so much for stopping by today and until next time, Happy Crafting!!
