I normally make A2 cards, but every once in awhile it’s good to switch it up. Today I made some smaller cards that are actually A2 panels folded in half! These are the perfect size for kid’s lunch box notes, to attach to a bouquet of flowers, or stick onto a basket of muffins or a casserole for someone who needs it! And if mini cards aren’t your thing, I have a full A2 sized card with the same design to show how these can be translated into full sized cards. Also, I repurposed a Mother’s Day Stamp Set for an everyday card! Stretching your stamp sets is a great way to get the most bang for your buck. Be sure to watch the video tutorial down below for all the details!!
Here’s a look at both the full sized card and the smaller mini notecards. All of these cards are colored with Leisure Arts products, who Joy Clair is partnering with this month. I have a full review on the colored pencils and the watercolor pencils, you can find that HERE. One thing to note, the large card and two of the smaller ones are stamped onto regular cardstock. Those are colored with plain colored pencils and blended with OMS. The other two smaller cards are stamped onto WATERCOLOR paper and colored with watercolor pencils, blended with a water brush. ALL of the stamped images are stamped with Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink, which plays well with all of these mediums.
I used my mini MISTI to stamp all of the smaller cards and the full A2 sized card I stamped with my larger full sized MISTI. After stamping I gave the cards a quick zap with my heat tool and then started coloring. I started with the watercolor pencils, and though I’ve only colored with this medium a hand full of times, these were so easy to use and weren’t intimidating at all! I have to say I am so happy with the way the watercolor turned out and that doesn’t happen with me very often! The colored pencils were more in my comfort zone and these blended beautifully with my OMS and blending stumps. I do share a few tips and tricks in the video tutorial above for both coloring mediums, so be sure to watch!
The final card was my full sized card and I kept it a one layer. I also stuck with my more comfortable coloring medium, regular colored pencils blended out with OMS. After all the stamping and coloring, I added a few die cut clouds that I cut from white felt. I use the cheap stuff from my local craft store. I find that with one layer cards, if you add another texture, it adds so much interest to the card front!
I hope you all enjoyed a look at using the Mother’s Day Love stamp set a bit differently and making both mini cards and translating those designs into full A2 panels. If you are interested in any of the supplies I used, they are all linked down below! Happy Crafting Everyone!!
