Have you ever looked through inspiration photos and seen a beautiful monochromatic outfit, room, or even card? They are BEAUTIFUL, but they have always intimidated me. I am not good at coordinating colors and trying to coordinated shades or one color – that was out of the question. But today, I decided to start with something simply, a brown/kraft palette, and make it easy on myself with a CAS card. Watch the video tutorial down below for the full process run down, and also a few tips and tricks along the way!
I went with a kraft/brown palette for my card today. In my head that was the most simple palette that I could think of for myself. One way I found to help make specific elements pop was to add shine. I added shine to the leave and sentiment by heat embossing with gold embossing powder. I still wanted that brown/kraft tone, but that little bit of shine helps it to not blend in and get lost in the background.
And that brings me to heat embossing and/or dimension is ESSENTIAL when making a monochromatic card. I used both on my card today so I could have those shadows that really adds so much to this simple card. Heat Embossing is a great way to add the tiniest bit of dimension and shine. I also double heat embossed my sentiment for even more dimension and a smooth finish. Be sure to watch the video above for all the info on that!
All in all this monochromatic color scheme wasn’t as hard as I though it would be. I hope you’ll give it and a try! If you are interested in any of the supplies I used on my card today, you will find them all linked below! Thanks for stopping by today and Happy Crafting!!
