Marker Stamping with Crackerbox & Suzy Stamps

Hello Everyone!! Today I have a really fun technique to share with you – Marker Stamping! There are so many times I want to stamp a solid stamp many different colors but selectively masking the stamp with tape and then inking up the stamp is WAY too labor intensive or the detail is so small and fine, it’s nearly impossible. So when this happens, I really like to bring out my water soluble markers to do the heavy lifting! I think this technique works best with a stamp positioner , but it could definitely be done without one, I just like the option of repeat stamping for more coverage! Watch the video tutorial below for all the details on this super easy marker stamping technique!

For my stamping today I am using the adorable Two Cats in a Tree Stamp from Crackerbox and Suzy Stamps! It is a cling red rubber stamp, which works best for this technique in my opinion. The markers really lay nicely on top of the red rubber and don’t bead up. For coloring on my stamp I used the Memento Dual Tipped Markers. These markers are just perfect for this technique – they are water soluble so I was able to lightly mist them with water and reactivate the ink so it would stamp. I highly suggest using a marker that will play well with a bit of water, especially if you are not using a stamp positioner.

Another reason I used my positioner is for the simply face I wanted to heat emboss my image with clear embossing powder when I was finished with the coloring. I needed a way to add a little bit of an ink blended sky behind my stamped image. Ink blending BEFORE I stamped would’ve contaminated the colors of the stamped image and the same would’ve happened if I ink blended directly over the stamped image without anything to resist the ink. Being able to add the clear embossing powder enabled me to ink blend my background without worrying about the stamped image! To finish the front of the card I added a little sentiment from the YOU set of five stamps, which is a fabulous set of sentiments to fit ALL of your cards!

I always try to bring the design on the outside of the card to the inside of the card as well! I think it’s such a nice finishing touch even if you just stamp a small little image. For my card I used the Lips stamp and another of the sentiments from the You set! It was really that simple!
