Today I am on the Imagine Blog & YouTube Channel sharing a really fun way to create a rainbow background with a TON of shine with the help of Imagine’s new Shimmer Stix!! These Shimmer Stix are the same exact product with the same incredible sparkle that the Shimmer Spritz’s offer, only these are in a stick form with a lot more control. Be sure to watch the video tutorial for all the details!!
To create these two backgrounds was very simple! I started with watercolor paper and Memento markers. Memento markers are water soluble markers that work wonderfully to create the look of watercolor and move around great on watercolor paper. I used each color in the rainbow family and blended them slightly on the paper. I did one background on the smooth side of the paper and one on the textured side. They both worked and looked fantastic, it’s just all about preference!
With the color on the paper, it was time to start adding the sparkle! This part is so easy, but makes all the difference in the finished cards! I started by running the Sparkle Shimmer Stix over the pink and continued over each of the colors moving the stick from side to side, blending the colors as I went along. When moving from color to color I would wipe a bit of color off the tip so my panel and colors didn’t turn into mud. Be sure to watch the video for tips and tricks on this!!
The backgrounds didn’t take too long to dry, but while I waited I cut two black frames with one of my favorite techniques, die cut inlay! And the last touch before putting the cards together was adding the sentiments. I used Versafine Clair in Nocturne for the rich black color on both cards! After adding the backgrounds to card bases, I popped up the black frames for the finishing look!
I hope you all enjoyed a look at how to create some sparkly rainbow backgrounds! If you are interested in any of the supplies I used today, you can find them all linked down below! Until next time, Happy Crafting!!
