I love to make cards with bold and bright colors! The bolder and bright, the better!! But there are times when I want a more subdued palette without sacrificing a lot of color. That’s what I want to share with you today, how to design a monochromatic card and a few tips and tricks along the way! Watch the video below for all the details!
For the full details on this card, be sure to watch the video above. I wanted to go with a lot of brown tones for my card today, but remember a monochromatic card can be made with ANY color! Just be sure you have a variety of tones of that color to make your card.
For my card today I used the gorgeous Martha’s Flowers stamp set. After stamping and heat embossing the stamped images onto kraft card stock, I colored them in with colored pencils. I kept my coloring palette limited to just a few pencils, and just switched up the combinations so each flower I colored looked a little different!
I fussy cut the edges of the stamped flowers to mount them onto a new panel, but I thought a plain white background was just a bit too stark of a contrast. To tone down the background and help it have a bit more cohesion with the panels, I stenciled a quick background with the Plaid Fringe stencil from TCW and Icing on the Cake ink.
Again, be sure to watch the video above for the full run down on putting this card together! Once the outside of the card was complete, I moved onto the inside of the card. I paired the Martha’s Flowers stamp set with the You Got This to finish off the card!
Sometimes narrowing down my color palette is just what I need! I hope you all enjoyed the video tutorial for today and if you are interested in any of the supplies I used on my card today, you will find them all listed and linked down below!! Until next time, Happy Crafting!!
