I love the look of zentangle, but I just do not have the skill or patience to make backgrounds sketching them out. I still wanted to be able to use some zentangle on my cards, though, and then I seen two doodle stamps from Crackerbox & Suzy Stamps and I knew they were the perfect way to make zentangle EASY! Be sure to watch the video tutorial below for all the details on creating these fun backgrounds and cards and also a few tips and tricks along the way!
To make these backgrounds I used two different stamps from Crackerbox & Suzy Stamps, both have “doodle” in the name and that’s exactly the kind of stamp you want to use when creating these types of backgrounds. Lined images with lots of small details are what will work best with this technique.
You’re also – probably – going to want to use a stamp positioner. If you are using clear stamps it will be easier to line them up without one, however I used red rubber which you can’t see through. In this particular case I chose to use my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig. Be sure to watch above for all the details on how to use this older stamp positioner that is so incredibly useful and a fabulous tool to have on hand!
Finally, I LOVE making backgrounds, I don’t think that comes as a surprise to anyone. But, sometimes that can get a little boring. I make a card and the design looks the same as the last, it just has a different technique or a different stamp. To change it up and add some interest, I like to cut up my backgrounds from time to time. There are so many fun ways to do this and no right or wrong way, either. It’s all about playing around with design!
These are some fun and really bright cards! I hope you all enjoyed the video above!! And if you are interested in any of the supplies I used on my cards, you can find them all listed and linked down below! Until next time, happy crafting everyone!!
