Fireworks! Backgrounds

Finding new ways to create easy backgrounds is something I really love to do. I love to pull out different products and just play in my craft room when I find the time. That’s where today’s technique came from. Watercolor backgrounds are something I struggle with. I am impatient with them and often just don’t have the time to sit and build up layer after layer to create the intensity I want on my cards. Sprays are a great way to “fake” a waterolor background quickly with all the intensity and pigment I’m looking for. I especially love using the Fireworks! sprays from Imagine because they not only have all that wonderful color, but they also have so much SHINE!! You can watch the video tutorial below to see how easy it is to create these quick and fun backgrounds with just a few sprays.

A few tips while creating these backgrounds. First, choose colors that are going to blend well together. There’s nothing worse than making mud! My first card I used a pink and blue, which when mixed in the middle created a gorgeous purple! My second background I went for an ombre look with a gray and black, which blended beautifully when they met.

You’re also going to need to work on watercolor paper. With this much moisture, regular card stock just won’t hold up. I would also suggest having painter’s tape on hand to do any masking or hold down your paper while your dry it. It helps with lessening the warping.

Finally, with these sprays, or any others, work in a box with high sides. I have found out, the hard way, if you don’t you will have little splatters of color and glitter EVERYWHERE for weeks. Working in a box makes clean up so much quicker!

I hope you all enjoyed a look at how easy it is to create these vibrant and fun background with Fireworks! sprays. I absolutely love the way these turned out! If you are interested or have any questions about the supplies I used today, you can find them all listed and linked down below. Until next time, happy crafting everyone!!
