Mirror image stamping is a technique that I’ve shared and it’s pretty easy to do, but I have a stamp to share with you today that makes it even easier! If you want to check out my original video on the mirror stamping technique head HERE! But if you want to see my new and improved video, you can watch the video tutorial below!!
I created two cards today, both used the same set up – the Mirror Image stamp from Crackerbox & Suzy Stamps and a MISTI. I find using the MISTI so helpful. I can continue stamping the mirror image over and over to get a nice dark impression. That is something I was never fond of with the original technique. To get a nice dark stamped image, I had to use a marker or pen and trace over the lines. Using the MISTI and this stamp I can repeatedly stamp over and over and adding more ink until I’m happy with the intensity!

My first project was a Harry Potter inspired birthday card. If you didn’t know, Crackerbox & Suzy Stamps has a great selection of Harry Potter stamps to choose from! I used the House Crest stamps to create a quick background and the Favorite Muggle sentiment for a quick card.

However, I wanted my Sorting Hat to face the opposite direction so that’s where the mirror image stamp came in. I was able to stamp him facing the sentiment to fit the design of my card! I used Catherine Pooler Icing on the Cake, so dye inks do stay wet long enough to transfer!!

My second card is a scene card that I stamped and masked. I LOVE the dog silhouette stamp and I really wanted to use it to create a little pair of pups. In order to do that I needed to make a mirror image of one and stamp the other so they are facing each other. I also stamped them on a die cut. In order to get placement just right I not only utilized my MISTI for the mirror stamping, but my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig too!!

For these two images, I actually used pigment ink, so it works with this stamp too!! I was able to heat emboss with clear embossing powder and then color my scene over the top of the images. I used Distress Inks and quick die cut masks to create this entire scene! I added the panel onto a stenciled card base and attached one of my favorite sentiments!

I have to say that I have never really enjoyed the mirror stamping technique, because I thought it was too much work and never really looked “good” for me. We’re always our own worst critic and I was just never happy with my tracing. This stamp changes that, entirely!! I couldn’t be happier with both of these cards and you can’t even tell they’re mirror images!
