It has been awhile since I made a handmade card with a digital stamp. I know digis aren’t for everyone, but I really love them. I’m not saying that I am willing to go completely digital, I love the actual “stamping” part of making a card too much! However, digital stamps do have a lot of benefits. Keep reading to find out more and how to get today’s digital stamp for FREE!

The Video Tutorial
Some supplies used in the video tutorial above were sent to me free of charge for design purposes. I only ever design for companies I can behind 100%! To see who I currently or have previously designed for head HERE.
FREE Digital Stamp

The stamp I used on my card today is one of my own. If you receive my newsletter, you already have the link to download this, just check your inbox!
I am having fun playing around with ProCreate and drawing some of my own digital stamps. I don’t want them to just sit on my tablet, so I thought I would give them away for FREE! All you need to do is sign up for my newsletter and in the welcome email you will find the link to download this digital stamp for free. Also, from time to time, I will be sending out other digital stamps in that newsletter, so be sure to sign up early so you don’t miss any of them!
Using Digital Stamps
Digital stamps can be a little intimidating, but once you figure out how to use them, they are one of the most versatile stamps you will have! You can make them any size you want, color them digitally or by hand, and the techniques are endless.
I use Photoshop Elements for all of my techniques, but there are many free programs you can use. I already have quite a few tutorials on using digis and there is a playlist over on my YouTube Channel. You can check it out below!
Making the Handmade Greeting Card

I started this card, like so many digital stamped card, on my computer. Again, I work in photoshop elements, but there are free programs out there. After I got my digi to the size I wanted it, I printed it off onto my heavy weight white cardstock using my Brother Laser printer.
The printer I use for printing off black and white digis is a laser printer. Laser printers are best for coloring with alcohol markers or your colored pencils and OMS. I LOVE my Brother for so many reasons but first and foremost it’s inexpensive in the world of laser printers and also, it takes heavy weight cardstock and watercolor paper (I’m talking 110 lb cardstock). I will leave a link to the exact printer I use down below!

After printing, I quickly trimmed down the paper to a more manageable size and started coloring. I used my Schpirrer Farben colored pencils, OMS and blending stumps to color in the digi. Then, to just to add more interest to the finished card, I die cut the colored image with an oval die. I also die cut an oval mat to use later on the finished card.
To finish this card, I added a little stenciling to the card base with the new Lush Petal Stencils from TCW and Flirty Fuschia Catherine Pooler ink. Then, all that was left to do was add the colored digital stamp and mat onto the card base. SO SIMPLE!!!
Digital Stamps Tips and Tricks
- First and foremost let me say, nothing is permanent in the world of digital stamping. There is always an undo, delete, or back button to be clicked. And if all else fails START OVER! You aren’t wasting any product, so play around, experiment and have fun. Don’t be intimidated or nervous!
- When you are printing, print in the highest quality. I use 1200 DPI. It really does make a difference in the quality of your prints!
- Digital stamps are great if you are in a hurry. If you don’t have time to stamp out a card, use your digital image and color them in digital just by dropping in the color. All that is left to do is type a sentiment on the card, print and go!
- Digital stamps are also a great way to practice your coloring. You can scale them up or down, depending on the size you want to color. Print them off and start practicing! **They also make great DIY coloring books for kiddos!**
Even though I won’t ever go all digital in my stamping, I do have to say there are so many pros to having and using digital stamps. They only take up space on your computer, you can scale them to whatever size you want, etc. etc. etc.!
Don’t forget to sign up for my newsletter if you want to get the digital stamp I used today for FREE. And also, there are more to come, so be on the lookout in the newsletter!
