Hi everyone! I hope everyone is doing well. I FINALLY have a new video tutorial for you today. It has taken me a bit of time to get back into the groove of editing and voiceovers, but I am slowly getting back into it. Today’s video is all about masking, but a very specific form of masking with stencils. I absolutely love stencils. They are, in my opinion, one of the most versatile tools in my craft room. I do have a whole playlist on different techniques to use with your stencils. I will leave it linked below. But first check out my newest video!!
The Video Tutorial
The video above contains products that were sent to me free of charge for design purposes. I only design for companies I can stand behind 100%! This post also contains affiliate links.
The Stencil Masking Technique
The technique is very simple. The main thing I want to mention is that I use regular plain 100 lb cardstock, not watercolor paper. This doesn’t allow the sprays to mix as much, which is what I was going for. I also love to use the mandala stencils from The Crafter’s Workshop. They give such great results! I used the brand new Fancy Mandala for this card and I LOVE the chunkier parts of the stencil because of the fabulous detail you get with the sprays!

This technique is one that can be done a number of ways and each time it will give you unique results. I like to spray from farther away for a fine mist and more of a splattered result, but you can just as easily spray from a closer distance for more condensed color. Just know that the stencil is still just a stencil and doesn’t keep puddles of liquid from seeping, so keep that in mind as you spray. But if you like that messier result, go for it!

Finishing the Handmade Card
I kept the remainder of the card very simple. All I did was add a simple “Happy Birthday” sentiment with a bit of dimensional adhesive. Be sure to watch to the video above to see how easy it was to add that stitching detail with a ruler and pen!!

I hope you all enjoyed the video! I hope it won’t be so long until the next one. If you are interested in any of the supplies I used today, you can find them all listed and linked down below. Until next time, happy crafting!!
