I love the look of layered stamping and die cutting. Layering the images with different shades adds so much depth and such a realistic look to the images on your paper crafts. I especially love the die cuts, but there are a few draw backs. First, with die cuts, the size they are is the size they are. They can not be adjusted to fit different projects. And, they get pricey QUICK. So, I decided to make my own SVG files that are layered, can be resized to fit my projects and I can make them available at a fraction of the price. I have a few made, but today, I am introducing a new Apple Layered SVG cut file into my Etsy Shop. Check out the video tutorial below to learn more about this layered SVG and see how I used it to make some quick teacher thank you cards.

Layered SVGs
I do love the look of layering different shades of ink and cardstocks to create an object with a lot of depth and a realistic look. Layered SVGs give you that opportunity at a fraction of the price. With this Apple SVG set you will get the layered SVG to load into your software, but you will also get the PNG layers that can be cut onto one sheet of white cardstock and then painted, inked up, etc. to add color. I also included the layered PNG without separate layers. With this image you can print and then cut and use it as a chipboard piece of even a sticker!
A Quick Teacher Thank You Card – Cardstock Layering
For my first card, I used the layered SVG and cut the layers from different shades of red, green and brown cardstocks. I also used the “Thanks Frame” from the Sentiment Frame SVG set that is also available in my Etsy shop. I cut that from kraft cardstock. Other than the SVGs the only thing that I did on this card, was I added a bit of ink blending and stenciling behind the layered SVG apple. That’s it! It’s so quick and easy!
This apple can be cut from different colors of cardstock. I used red, but apples come in all different colors, so you can really have fun with the colors!
A Quick Teacher Thank You Card – Ink Blending
For this card, I cut the apple larger than the last. This allowed the card to be completely filled with the apple. I also cut the layers only from white cardstock. This allowed me to use my Distress Inks to color the layers. This is a great technique for any layered image, when you don’t have a ton of colors of cardstock.
I also ink blended with the same stencil and ink as I did on the first card. This is an easy way to add interest to simple cards.
I also added a thank you label maker sentiment, which I also put into my Etsy shop. These are great for simple sentiments that really pop!
